Caveats
We have to start by declaring an interest - we're very fond of 'The Rock' as
it's known by the inhabitants, so some of these pages are going to be a eulogy
of this beautiful, quirky, independent but very welcoming, Canadian province.
We're torn between sharing the delights of this island, still largely
undiscovered by European tourists, and keeping it to ourselves. So here's
the compromise: we'll tell YOU about it, YOU can go there - but don't tell anybody else!
Getting there
From the UK it's not as easy as it used to be, even though it's still as
expensive. As we explain on the
main Canada page Air Canada have now
stopped the direct flight from
London Heathrow to St. John's, so you should look very carefully at various
combinations of alternative airlines. In August 2008 we used
Thomas Cook's
airline to fly to Halifax, but still had to use
Air Canada
for the onward connection to St. John's as flights by other airlines were not
convenient. However, for flights around Atlantic Canada it would be worth
checking the schedules for other airlines such as
Air Transat and
WestJet.
