Some knowledge of German will help you read the bottle labels, explore German-language websites and will certainly make your visit more enjoyable.  Why not make a resolution to start learning?  Although there are plenty of self-teach courses, most people find that the discipline of attending a course helps them make better progress.  Suitable courses are available at your local Adult Education Centre.
