Belgian Beers

Master Brewers - Taste the Beers of Belgium

 (Course No R0702F fee £25)
Saturday 10 November 2007 10.00 – 13.30*

Beers for special occasions, beers for specific food, fruit beers, sweet and sour beers, products of micro breweries or Trappist abbeys, each with their own unique glass, to be sipped and savoured like a fine wine – experience the world of Belgian beer and taste distinctive examples from the huge range.

We shall cover the background to Belgian beer production, the main regions of Belgium and the range of styles, the emphasis on the use of correct glasses, followed by tastings of up to 15 representative beers.

If you've attended one of our previous courses on this theme, you need to know that this course will introduce beers from a different range of Belgian breweries, including many which have started up recently, so there's every reason to come along again and explore a whole new range of tastes.
Will any of them  become the new Belgian Classics?  You decide!

Learn to appreciate the main types of Belgian beers, their different roles and application to food, and be aware of your own preferences; also find out where to get Belgian beers in this country.

Suitable for anyone who is legally and medically allowed to drink alcohol,  has perhaps tried wine tasting, is looking for a different experience and is prepared to have an open mind about the place of beer in more sophisticated social situations.

You’re going to drink, so don’t drive!
*Although the official finishing time is 13.00, tell your transport not to arrive before 13.30,
as we usually allow time for extra questions and finishing off the beers.
